Ethos
By Committee wants to help consumers approach fashion differently by offering a collection that looks elegant, feels luxurious, is practical to wear and maintain, but is also ethically made.
All the designing and manufacturing takes place in London, with materials sourced from British brands that have similarly ethical commitments. This, in itself, is a huge opportunity to promote and support British brands in a more collective and more sustainable way. Each part of the process has been carefully considered for its respect for the environment, its limit of pollution and waste, and its capacity for sustainability, with transparency of information being at the heart of the brand’s ethos.
We promise to always revisit our materials used and our business practice as developments in these areas change. Our focus is on producing timeless styles that have been carefully and thoughtfully made.
Our pieces are ones you rely on to make you feel your best and that can be worn over and over again for years to come.
Sourcing
Buttons
Our buttons are produced in England by the Gloucestershire-based, family-run button maker Courtney & Co, a brand committed to sustainable, ecological and ethical practices. Our buttons are made from Corozo, which comes from the nut of the Tagua Palm, which is native to South America with the best grown in Ecuador. Harvesting the nut does no harm to the trees as the nut falls once ripe. The animals eat the husk and the locals collect and sell the seeds, which allows them to live from what the rainforest produces. They, in return, protect and preserve the forest rather than cutting it down.
Zips
Our zips are made from Natulon and recycled polyester by YKK, which design products that reduce negative influence on the environment, such as energy and crude oil consumption, CO2 emission, and industrial waste production. Furthermore, offering a major milestone for a fashion industry product, water consumption during the dye process is almost zero.
Fabrics
The collection is crafted from beautiful mid weight silk satin which comes from France. It has been sourced with the help of one of London’s oldest suppliers. Borovick Fabrics, established in 1932. We manufacture all our products in London, working with Eden Studio, a South Wimbledon-based company that specialises in fine fabrics and silks.
